CERN and French AI company Mistral signed a statement of intent on 15 October to build a “Large Physics Model“, which CERN calls the first foundation model for collider physics. It will be trained on simulated Large Hadron Collider data to help reconstruct and identify particles.
China’s commerce and science ministries proposed adding 23 AI technologies, including large models, agents, chip designs, and computing clusters, to the country’s export control list. Open-source tech is exempt and overseas users can still access models through apps.
Nvidia’s RTX Spark laptops, which launched on Friday, are built to run AI agents on the laptop itself. Users can install agents such as GitHub Copilot, Hermes, OpenClaw and Perplexity from the first start-up, without a command line, Nvidia said.
