Privacy policy

Teknoözet has no accounts and no ads. You do not sign up, no profile is created, and your behavior is not tracked. This policy explains what data the app and the teknoozet.online website process.

Who we are

What data we collect

We process only the minimum data needed to run the service.

  • If you turn on notifications: the device's anonymous notification token (push token), platform (iOS/Android), app version, interface language, the categories you chose and your notification preferences.
  • Anonymous view and click counters: we count how many times an article was viewed or opened to read at its source. Counters are not linked to you or your device.
  • For security and debugging, the server keeps the usual access log (IP address, time, requested address) for a short time.

We do not collect your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos, advertising ID or similar personal data. No third-party advertising or analytics tools are used, and the website uses only a functional cookie that stores your language choice (see below).

What stays on your device

Your saved articles, recent searches, and language, theme and content-language preferences are stored on your device only and are never sent to the server. They are removed when you delete the app.

Website and cookies

When you change the language on teknoozet.online, the site sets a single first-party cookie (lang) to remember your choice (tr or en). The cookie is purely functional: it lasts 1 year, does not identify you, is not used for tracking or advertising and is not shared with third parties. No cookie is set unless you change the language. Your light/dark theme preference is not a cookie; it is kept only in your browser's local storage. You can delete the cookie and local storage in your browser settings at any time; the site keeps working and simply falls back to the default language.

How we use data

We use the notification token and your preferences only to send the notifications you chose (new bulletin, featured articles in your chosen categories). We use the counters in aggregate to understand which articles are of interest. We do not sell your data, share it for marketing or build profiles.

Who it is shared with

To deliver notifications, your notification token is passed to Apple (APNs) and Google (FCM) notification services. These services may operate outside Turkey. Otherwise your data is not shared with third parties.

Articles and sources

Articles are compiled from the publicly available RSS feeds of their sources as a headline and a short summary; full text is not copied. Every article shows its source name and links to the source for the full article. When you open a link, the privacy policy of that site applies.

Retention and deletion

Your notification record is kept while you keep notifications on. At any time you can:

  • Turn notifications off under Settings > Notifications; the server is told that notifications are off.
  • Use Settings > "Delete my device data" to delete your device's record on the server (notification token, language and category preferences) and to clear the notification preferences and recent searches on the device.
  • Delete the app to remove all data on the device.

Unused notification tokens (for example after the app is deleted) are deactivated automatically through feedback from the notification services. Anonymous counters contain no personal data and are therefore not deleted individually.

Your rights

You can send requests for information, correction and deletion about your data to destek@teknoozet.online. Because the notification token is anonymous, we may need information that helps us identify the device record (such as app version and registration date); the in-app delete action is the fastest way.

Children

Teknoözet is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes

If this policy is updated, the new date is shown above. Significant changes are announced in the app.
